Mark Sutcliffe is the host of Ottawa Today, a daily talk show simulcast on 1310 NEWS and Rogers TV. He also contributes regularly to Canada’s Parliamentary channel, CPAC-TV. He is the back-page columnist of iRun magazine, which he founded in 2008, and writes weekly in the Ottawa Citizen, where he was previously executive editor.




Mark is the CEO of Great River Media Inc., a media company with national and local print, web and event properties, including Ottawa Business Journal and the community newspaper Kitchissippi Times. Mark co-founded the Ottawa Business Journal in 1995 and founded the Kitchissippi Times in 2003.

Mark is also a shareholder in SportStats, a global sports timing company, which operates iRun as part of its media division.

Mark and his colleague Pat Whalen recently launched Sutcliffe+Whalen, a boutique consulting firm for small- to medium-size businesses. Sutcliffe+Whalen helps CEOs and business owners overcome the forces that pull them into operations and never allow them to focus on the strategic actions that will achieve meaningful, long-term growth.




Mark has served on a wide range of community, business and education boards, including the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, Invest Ottawa, Run Ottawa, Algonquin College, United Way Ottawa, the Ottawa Community Housing Foundation and the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health.

In 2017, Mark fundraised for the Ottawa Hospital Foundation through the Run for a Reason initiative. His team, the Stemcellerators, ran Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend on May 27-28, 2017 in support of Stem Cell research
