The Christmas holidays represent something different to each of us. For many people, it’s a deeply spiritual time. For others, it’s a chance to spend time with family and be reminded of all the things we cherish in life.
Even in an age of commercialism and secularism, when fewer and fewer people are going to church, most of us pause at this time of year and reflect on all the blessings in our lives. Like so many others, I’m grateful for my family and the incredible good fortune I have to live and work in this warm, welcoming and generous community. I have so much to be thankful for, it’s almost embarrassing.
But while we celebrate the holidays, let’s not forget that this can be a difficult time for those who feel alone, who are ill, or who have lost loved ones. All of us should be thinking about how we can share our good fortune, at Christmas time and throughout the year. No matter what the holidays mean to you, I want to wish you the very best of the season. From all of us at 1310 NEWS, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
